OUR TIMELINE
1979
Cotleigh Brewery
Cotleigh Brewery began life in Devon in 1979, in the old stable block of Cotleigh Farmhouse at Washfield near Tiverton. The original operation started as a five-barrel brewing plant, with Tawny being the first brew, and it has since remained one of the most popular beers in the South West. The immediate success saw Cotleigh move to the historic brewing town of Wiveliscombe, where they successfully brewed multiple award-winning beers until they closed their doors in 2021.
1982
RCH Brewery
RCH Brewery started brewing beer for the Royal Clarence Hotel in Burnham-on-sea. Two years later, it was taken over, and the beers became widely available to the free trade. The popularity of the beers saw RCH move to new premises, an old cider mill, in Western-Super-Mare.
2017
Pitchfork Brewery
RCH closed in 2017 and relaunched as Pitchfork Brewery. They continued to brew RCH's most popular beers, Pitchfork Ale, Old Slug Porter, Santa Fe and East Street Cream but expanded into Craft Beers.
2022
Nuttycombe Brewery
2021 saw the closure of Cotleigh Brewery. Ross Nuttycombe, publican of the Star Inn in Watchet, purchased the Brewery and Nuttycombe Brewing Ltd was born, launching new Nuttycombe beers and reintroducing the much loved Cotleigh beers back into the trade.
